MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) – The Moline Police Department is investigating a cashier scam at Walmart.

Moline police said on March 26, a black man wearing a red Adidas sweatshirt and another black man wearing a black shirt with white stripes exited Walmart in Moline with over $1,500 worth of unpaid merchandise and gift cards.

According to police, the two suspects used a method referred to as a “cash-cash” scam, which caused the cashier to think that the credit card purchase was processed through, but it was not.

Police said both suspects then exited Walmart with the stolen merchandise and got into a silver SUV/Utility type vehicle and drove away.

If you have information about the suspects or vehicle, police ask you to call Crime Stoppers of the Quad Cities at 309-762-9500 or submit your tip using the app P3 Tips. All tips are anonymous.
