madan kaushik: ‘library Scam’: Madan Kaushik Gets Hc Notice | Dehradun News

Nainital: The Uttarakhand high court on Wednesday served a notice to Haridwar MLA and state Bharatiya Janata Party chief, Madan Kaushik, during the hearing of a petition accusing him of corruption in the construction of 16 libraries in Haridwar. The minister has been given four weeks to respond to the notice when the case will next be heard.
The libraries were to be built by rural engineering services.
The petition, filed in 2010, alleges financial irregularities to the tune of Rs 1.5 crore in the case while adding that Kaushik had misused his MLA funds in connivance with the officials of rural engineering services.
The division bench of acting chief justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra and Justice RC Khulbe after hearing the matter asked Kaushik to submit his responses within four weeks. The petitioner also demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the case.
Speaking on the case, Shiv Bhatt, Nainital court lawyer, “It certainly seems that Madan Kaushik got a few rooms constructed to please his workers in the name of library construction. Seemingly, certain rules were also circumvented.”
