CBI seeks documents of National Games scam from State Govt

The CBI, after undertaking investigation of the 34th National Games scam in

Jharkhand, has asked the Jharkhand government to provide all documents

pertaining to preparations, management and procurement for the games.

The CBI has submitted a list of the official papers to the government it requires for

investigation. These documents are related to the department of Sports and Youth

affairs. Among the documents it has sought is the list of ministers and officials of

the department of the corresponding period. It has demanded the documents related

to various sports and tender committees. Notably it has also sought details of

construction rights granted to Nagarjuna Construction, which constructed sports

infrastructure. 

The CBI asked the Jharkhand government to appoint someone as nodal officer who

could be contacted for the purpose of procuring documents. The Jharkhand High

Court has already directed the government to ensure that the CBI is given

necessary documents of the cases 

Two FIRs were lodged by the CBI at the Anti-Corruption Unit of the CBI   in

Ranchi related to the 34 th  scam.

In the first case RC0242022A0001, the FIR has been lodged against unknown

public servants and private persons. The FIR has been lodged under sections 120

(B), 420 of IPC, and sections 13 (2) and 13 (1) (D) of the Prevention of Corruption
